Trailing Clouds of--Well, Not Immortality

Memed again! What five things do you miss about your childhood?

1. The scent of mimeographed paper--also the scent of autumn leaves burning. (which is illegal now), and the skitttering sound they made blowing down the sidewalk.
2. The glow of lightning bugs in a blue Mason jar.
3. The view from the top of my grandmother's pear tree and the sweet rotten scent as bees and wasps buzzed over the windfallen fruit.
4. My grandmother's Tabu bottle shaped like a violin and the box it came in--the violinist and the pianist in a permanent clench. Also the heavy scent of it, which is the only smell for grandmothers.
5. My grandmother's sewing box with the little safety pins hanging like possums from the bigger one, and the scissors like birds' beaks.

There are others--but I think it's interesting that most of my memories have scent and sight, but not so much tone, taste, or texture.
