Last evening, Harvey, Raleigh, and I heard Orion Weiss in concert at MSU. What technique--his selections included Chopin, Mozart, Carver, and of course Beethoven. He played the Eroica so passionately his glasses fell off and skidded across the stage, right at Raleigh's feet. (We were in the front row). Oh, how I love Beethoven, all the way through my whole body.
One funny moment--near the end of one of the more dissonant pieces, Harvey flinched, visibly, like he'd been shocked. Afterwards, the pianist left and there was a brief intermission. Out came the tuner. It was "the highest A," Harvey said. I looked, and 12 years of keyboard bore him out. That's where the tuner was torquing. What I'd give for perfect pitch.
